US President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that US forces have destroyed 10 inactive Iranian mine-laying vessels, following through on his earlier warning to Tehran about mining in the Strait of Hormuz.
"I am pleased to report that within the last few hours, we have hit, and completely destroyed, 10 inactive mine laying boats and/or ships, with more to follow!" Trump posted on Truth Social.
The strike comes after Trump warned Iran to immediately remove any mines from the strategic waterway or face "military consequences at a level never seen before." He had indicated that pulling the mines would signal a serious effort to avoid deepened conflict.
