Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico revealed on Monday that Bratislava will sue the European Commission (EC) over the halt of Russian oil supply to Central Europe.
In a post on Facebook, Fico criticized the opposition leader Mikhal Simecka, claiming that he "applauded the EU’s decision to stop the flows of Russian gas and oil to Europe." He affirmed that "the government that I lead is going against this madness" and is suing the EC in an attempt to restore the supply.
"In our confrontation with the confused Ukrainian president [Volodymyr Zelensky], who does not hesitate to use blackmail against Slovakia and Hungary, we are prepared to go to legitimate extremes," he wrote.
