Cole Tomas Allen, the suspect in the White House Correspondents' Dinner shooting, was charged on Monday with attempting to assassinate US President Donald Trump, among other counts.
Allen did not enter a plea to the charges relating to the incident at the Washington D.C. Hilton, which included transporting a firearm in interstate commerce with intent to commit a felony and using a firearm during a crime of violence.
A detention hearing was scheduled for this Thursday to decide whether Allen should remain in custody until his trial. He faces life in prison if found guilty of the assassination attempt and 10 years for each of the other accusations.
