Russia, China 'committed' to independent foreign policy

 Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Wednesday that both Moscow and Beijing are "committed" to an independent foreign policy.

"Most importantly, Russia and China are committed to independent and autonomous foreign policies, act in close strategic coordination, and play an important stabilizing role on the world stage," Putin stressed during a joint press conference following bilateral meetings in Beijing. He also shared that he discussed topical international issues with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Moreover, the Russian president praised the strategic partnership and noted that all trade settlements between the two countries are conducted today in local currencies. "In Russia and China, coordinated efforts to conduct settlements between the two countries - and between our nations as a whole - in national currencies were of great significance," he concluded.
