Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico reiterated on Saturday that his country will not participate in the European Union's €70 billion package to fund military assistance for Ukraine.
Speaking to the national broadcaster SRTV's podcast Saturday Dialogues, Fico insisted that such an approach on the bloc's part will only contribute to the continuation of the conflict. He also said he will try to persuade the EU to exclude Slovakia from all future packages, which means it would not need his country's mandate to approve such decisions.
Previously, Fico announced the decision during the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdansk. He also stressed that the EU should support peace initiatives instead.
