'Mamdani vows solidarity after SCOTUS decision'

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani pledged solidarity with Haitian and Syrian immigrants after the United States Supreme Court ruled the administration of US President Donald Trump can end Temporary Protected Status (TPS). The decision cleared the way for federal officials to terminate protections that have allowed thousands to remain in the country without facing deportation.

Mamdani said the city was built by people from many nations, including Haitians and Syrians. "We stand here ready to be in solidarity with all of those who are concerned by today's decision, and beyond just language of solidarity, actions of solidarity," Mamdani said in a live-streaming series he hosts. He encouraged residents worried about their immigration status or family situation should contact the mayor's office or call the city's immigrant affairs hotline for support.
