Three new "nearly simultaneous" fires were reported in the south of France, in the commune of Varages, the country's Var prefecture said on Sunday, noting that they were caused by "deliberate arson attacks."
"Enough is enough!," the post on X said, adding that the incident took place while over 1,000 firefighters were battling a separate fire on the Gros Bessillon mountain for the past six days.
The prefecture "strongly condemns these deliberate arson acts, which constitute unacceptable and criminally reprehensible actions. They will be the subject of an investigation," the post added.
