'Iran lawmaker says Oman deal depends on lifting US naval blockade'

 

Any agreement with Oman over the Strait of Hormuz depends on the lifting of the US naval blockade against Iran, lawmaker Esmail Kowsari said Friday, according to Didban Iran.

“If not, the strait will remain blocked and offensive actions will be carried out wherever necessary,” said Kowsari, a member of parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee.

He said the United States was not present even in the Gulf of Oman, “let alone the Persian Gulf,” adding that “the entire region is within range of Iranian missiles and drones.”

Kowsari also said US messages had reached Tehran through Qatar, Oman and Pakistan, but that Iran would move to an operational stage only after provisions 1, 4, 5, 10 and 11 of the Islamabad MoU were implemented.
