Le Pen: Party to propose €125B cut to budget spending

 France's National Rally parliamentary leader Marine Le Pen said Thursday that the party plans to unveil a €125 billion savings package ahead of the government's upcoming budget negotiations.

Speaking at the MEDEF, presidential candidate Le Pen said it was "absolutely necessary" to reduce spending to counter the "snowball effect" of France's mounting debt, warning that it could ultimately leave the country in a "dramatic economic situation." The presidential candidate also underlined that the country's employment rate is "too low."

Le Pen argued that immigration places a significant burden on France's social protection system, while also criticizing the country's financial contribution to the European Union, saying there was "no major reason" for France’s net contribution to exceed €5 billion.
