Chevron Corporation is said to be among the top American companies ready to pour billions of dollars into Venezuela's oil fields, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
According to the sources, the US energy giant is nearing a deal to expand its footprint in Venezuela, potentially bringing two additional oil fields under its operations in the country. In addition, Halliburton Company has emerged as another major US firm looking to expand its business in the Latin American country by supplying oil producers with its equipment and related services, insiders revealed.
Earlier, it was reported by Axios that Washington could reach a "massive" oil deal on Venezuela's oil fields as President Donald Trump seeks to secure an ownership stake in the country’s petroleum resources.
