Russia is actively developing unmanned vessels as part of efforts to expand marine robotic systems, United Shipbuilding Corporation Deputy Head Kirill Toropov said on Saturday.
Toropov said Russia has a roadmap for developing marine robotic systems, including unmanned platforms. He said such systems could reduce operating costs and improve safety during certain shipboard and underwater technical tasks.
The United Shipbuilding Corporation is Russia's major state-owned shipbuilding group and develops both civilian and specialized vessels.
