Bump: 'Noem Blames "Corrupt" FBI For Leaks To Media Tipping Off Illegals About Upcoming ICE Raids'

Update: Homan said on Fox News Monday night that that the Department of Justice has opened up a criminal investigation into LA leak and that Noem is correct about her assumptions.

“Some of the information we’re receiving tends to lead toward the FBI,” he told Fox host Sean Hannity, adding that whoever did it will lose their job, pension, and will go to jail.

Homan also said they’ve identified the leaker of the Aurora raid as well, but can’t reveal the name yet because the investigation is ongoing.

He stressed that all leakers will be held criminally responsible for putting the lives of ICE agents at risk to protect criminal gangs.

As Debra Heine reported earlier via American Greatness, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem suggested on Sunday that the “corrupt” FBI is behind a leak to the media regarding upcoming immigration raids in the Los Angeles area.

According to an internal government document obtained by the Los Angeles Times, the operation will be spearheaded by ICE and “focus on people who do not have legal status in the country or who already have pending orders of removal.”

The Times didn’t cite the FBI as a source for its February 7 story, but Noem made clear on social media that she strongly suspected bad actors from the Bureau were behind the leak.

“The FBI is so corrupt,” she posted on X Sunday in response to the report.  “We will work with any and every agency to stop leaks and prosecute these crooked deep state agents to the fullest extent of the law,” Noem wrote.

The LA Times said the document was circulated among some government officials last week. A federal law enforcement source “who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal” told the paper that LA FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officers and agents have been called in to assist.

Last month, the Department of Justice tasked the FBI; DEA; U.S. Marshal’s Service; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF);  and Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to assist ICE with deportations.

Steve Friend, former FBI agent-turned-whistleblower, told American Greatness on January 28 that agents had been calling in sick with the ”blue flu” to protest the directive.

Friend,  who is now a senior fellow at the Center for Renewing America and an “American Radicals” podcaster, said FBI field offices had been asking for volunteers to help with the deportation effort, but many agents were afraid of retaliation from their superiors.

“People know if they step forward, then leadership will identify them as MAGA,” he explained.

“The executive management at some field offices aren’t sending out any guidance for the ICE directive. Just ignoring,” he added.

Friend posted on X Sunday that now “senior executives and managers at the @FBI are telling agents not to assist ICE.”

FBI whistleblower Garret O’Boyle made the same claim Monday on the Kyle Seraphin Show podcast, claiming that supervisors at some field offices are “straight up telling” agents they don’t have to go on the raids if they have “some sort of internal conviction or whatever.”

“Sorry people, that’s not how this works,” O’Boyle said, explaining that there’s a difference between whistleblowing actual violations of law (as the suspended FBI whistleblowers did) and simple disagreeing with policy.

“This is about enforcing laws that we have,” he said. “So if you simply don’t like it, sorry that’s not how this works.”

The LA Times leak is just the latest leak to the media tipping off illegal alien criminals of impending raids.

A major ICE operation targeting violent Tren de Aragua gang members in Aurora, Colorado, was leaked ahead of time last week.

CBS News and NBC News published articles tipping off the gang members “citing numerous U.S. officials,” Fox News’ Bill Melugin reported on X, Sunday. The stories forced ICE to reschedule and the op ended up being a failure, Melugin added.

“And a large scale Chicago op was also leaked to the media during Trump’s first week in office, leading to a canceling and rescheduling of that op as well,” Melugin added.

Furious at the betrayals, White House border czar Tom Homan told Fox News that the leak put law enforcement officers at risk and warned that those guilty of impeding ICE would “find themselves in handcuffs.”

“When they get a heads up we’re coming, it’s only a matter of time before out officers are ambushed,” Homan explained. “We’ve already identified how this operation got leaked,” he said. “The job’s dangerous enough for we’re going to address this very seriously.”

Homan also said ICE might have to stop “media ride-alongs” because the few people who know about the operations, “the better it is for our agents.”

Attorney General Pam Bondi also issued a warning to the leakers: “If you leaked it we will find out who you are and we will come after you,” she told Fox News on Sunday.

U.S. Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks told Fox News last week that there’s been a 90 percent decrease in illegal entries since January 21 and criminal prosecutions are up almost 52 percent.

“We know how to secure the border. All we needed was a President that was gonna empower us,” Banks said.

Johnson & Johnson aims to sell Cerenovus for over $1 b

Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), the New Jersey-based healthcare company, is planning to sell its stroke care business, Cerenovus, as part of a restructuring plan for its medical technology division, as reported by Financial Times, citing people familiar with the situation. The company is seeking a valuation of over $1 billion for the sale.

Cerenovus, a manufacturer of surgical equipment for stroke patients, has reportedly been presented to potential private equity and strategic buyers through advisers to gauge their interest. Trump to order US agencies to plan for 'large scale' staff cuts

U.S. President Donald Trump plans to direct federal agencies to coordinate with Elon Musk's task force to shrink the workforce and limit hiring with an exception to immigration and other safety positions, a White House official said on Tuesday.

The executive order, which is expected to be signed on Tuesday, would set rules allowing government agencies to hire no more than one employee for every four workers who leave the federal workforce, according to the official.

Additionally, the order will direct agencies to plan "for large-scale reductions in force and determine which agency components (or agencies themselves) may be eliminated or combined because their functions aren’t required by law," the order will say, the official said.

Federal employees whose work is "critical to national security, public safety, law enforcement, and immigration enforcement" would be exempted, the official added.

Trump's latest directive alongside billionaire ally Musk, who has been tasked as a special government employee to help carry out widespread government cuts, comes as his planned buyout for federal employees remains blocked in the courts.

Bill to curb US investment in China to be reintroduced, US lawmaker says

Legislation to curb U.S. investment in China will be reintroduced in Congress, the chair of the House of Representatives' select committee on China said on Tuesday, adding that the bill's failure to pass into law last year was not due to opposition from billionaire Elon Musk.

Lawmakers from both parties have criticized large American providers of investment mutual funds that track stock indexes for directing billions of dollars from investors into stocks of Chinese companies that the U.S. believes are facilitating the development of China's military.

Some Democratic lawmakers in December accused certain Republicans of protecting Musk's business interests in China by scrapping provisions in a U.S. funding bill that would have prohibited Americans from making such investments in strategic sectors, such as certain AI systems and semiconductors.

Musk, a close ally of President Donald Trump and the CEO of electric car maker Tesla, which has extensive business operations in China, helped lead opposition online to the government funding bill last year that would have included the investment restrictions. The investment measures were ultimately dropped from the bill, though it isn't clear if Musk specifically opposed them.

The select committee's Republican chair, Representative John Moolenaar, who has called passing restrictions on outbound investment to China a top priority, told an event in Washington that turning the legislation into law would require "a lot of political will."

"We were very close to getting outbound investment legislation through in the last few weeks of the last Congress. It's going to be reintroduced, and we're going to work very hard to move that forward," Moolenaar said at the Institute of World Politics.

"I want to believe that most Americans, when they realize the threat that is involved, will want to do the right thing for our country," he said.

China, the United States' top geopolitical and technological rival, has said it opposes such legislation, calling it an unfair effort to target Chinese products and companies in the name of national security.

Moolenaar said he was "not convinced" that Musk, whom Trump has tasked to lead an effort to slash the size of the U.S. federal workforce, was responsible for the omission.

"I don't believe that was what ended up not allowing that to move forward," he said.

"We had different committees of jurisdiction that had different viewpoints, and we were trying to do one thing, and the Senate was trying to do another thing," he said.

A spokesperson for the White House did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

Moolenaar said the White House would play a crucial role in any renewed effort to advance the outbound restrictions, and he praised key members of Trump's national security team, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and national security adviser Mike Waltz, for understanding the threats he said were posed by China.

"I have a lot of confidence in the president's team in these areas," he said.

Alcohol-related liver transplants on the rise among young adults — women especially at risk

A growing number of young Americans are drinking their way onto the organ transplant list — particularly women.

Alcohol is the top cause of liver disease, according to the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. James Burton, a liver transplant expert in Colorado, said this is a new and alarming shift.

A decade ago, it was mostly men in their 50s and 60s who needed liver transplants, he noted.

“We started seeing not only more women, but [more] younger women in their 20s and 30s,” Burton, a professor of medicine and gastroenterology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, told Fox News.

“I had never seen young women need liver transplants at that age — and that is not unique to us. That is a problem across America,” the doctor added.

Some patients in need of alcohol-related liver transplants are as young as their early 20s and started drinking alcohol in their teenage years, Burton said.

Alcohol-related liver disease leads to nearly 50% of all liver transplant surgeries, he noted.

“There are people who maybe don’t drink every day, but they drink heavily on the weekends — and maybe have eight to 10 drinks. That’s equally bad,” Burton said.

Things took a turn during COVID-19 lockdowns, he noted, when more people drank excessively at home.

Plus, women process alcohol differently than men, Burton cautioned.

Emma Lillibridge, 31, said she never thought she would become a liver transplant recipient.

The Colorado woman went to the hospital with an illness and was shocked to discover the extent of her health issues, she told Fox News.

Doctors told Lillibridge that she would need surgery, as heavy alcohol consumption during her 20s had led to the failing health of her liver, she noted.

“There are people who maybe don’t drink every day, but they drink heavily on the weekends — and maybe have eight to 10 drinks. That’s equally bad,” Burton said.JackF – stock.adobe.com

“I had no idea what I was walking into. I went into the hospital thinking I had pneumonia and left with a new liver five weeks later,” Lillibridge said.

“In a brewery, I worked behind the scenes too, like in the actual brew house, brewing beer. So I was surrounded by a ton of men who were just chugging beer 24/7,” Lillibridge said.

“So it wasn’t uncommon for me during a shift, people walking up saying, ‘Do a beer shot with me.’”

By the time Lillibridge was 30, she was told she needed a transplant to save her life.

She is now sharing her story to help save others.

“I really think that people don’t recognize how normalized heavy drinking has become in our culture, so they don’t see that they have a problem until they really take a look,” she added.

Lillibridge received her liver transplant surgery in October 2023. She told Fox News that she is now sober, healthy, and back on her feet.

She has started a new job and plans to get married soon.
