The United States Department of Justice is conducting an investigation into Netflix, Inc.'s possible use of anticompetitive practices ahead of its proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. (WBD), The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing a civil subpoena.
According to the report, the streaming giant was asked to describe any "exclusionary conduct on the part of Netflix that would reasonably appear capable of entrenching market or monopoly power." Meanwhile, the company's spokeswoman said that Netflix is "constructively engaging" with the US Justice Department as part of the standard review of the proposed acquisition.
The department is also reportedly looking into Paramount Skydance's proposed acquisition and asking the company if the deal could hurt competition.
