The European Union announced on Friday that it would "thoroughly review" a cyberattack on its central infrastructure managing mobile devices, which occurred on January 30.
According to a statement posted on the European Commission's website, the attack "may have resulted in access to staff names and mobile numbers of some of its staff members." Nonetheless, due to a "swift response," the Commission managed to deal with the incident, cleaning the system within nine hours.
"As Europe faces daily cyber and hybrid attacks on essential services and democratic institutions, the Commission is committed to further strengthen the EU's cybersecurity resilience and capabilities," it was written in the statement.
