Hungary, Slovakia halt diesel exports to Ukraine

The governments of Hungary and Slovakia announced on Wednesday a suspension of diesel exports to Ukraine due to the halting of Russian oil transit via the Druzhba pipeline.

"[Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky has decided not to restart oil transit for political reasons, deliberately putting Hungary's energy supply at risk, while we play an essential role in Ukraine's energy security. A large part of Ukraine's gas, electricity and diesel imports arrives through or from Hungary," Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto wrote in an X post.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated in a government publication that, since Ukraine had not yet provided any information regarding the stoppage, Slovnaft would halt all shipments to the country and redirect all of its output to the Slovak market.
