United States President Donald Trump remarked on Friday that the two aircraft carriers he decided to deploy to the Middle East are there to protect Washington's interests in case of unsuccessful negotiations with Iran.
"Well, in case we don't make a deal, we'll need it," Trump said, replying to reporters' questions on the carrier he decided to send. "If we don't have a deal, we'll need it. If we have a deal, we could cut it short; it would be leaving very soon," the US leader stressed, saying that one carrier "just arrived" and reiterating that there is a "very big force" stationed in the region.
Trump concluded by expressing optimism that talks with Tehran would succeed, but warned that if they fail, "it's going to be a bad day for Iran - very bad."
