The annual inflation rate in the United States stood at 2.4% in January, down from 2.7% in December, according to a report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics published on Friday. On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.2%.
Core CPI, excluding food and energy, grew by 0.3% month-on-month and 2.5% annually, down from 2.6% in December. Food prices were up by 0.2% and 2.9% repsectively, while energy prices dropped 1.5% compared to December and 0.1% year-on-year.
