The United States Composite PMI Output Index decreased to 52.3 in February from January’s figure of 53.0, according to a preliminary report published by S&P Global on Friday. The figure reached a 10-month low.
The Flash US Services PMI Business Activity Index fell to 52.3 in the reported month, down from 52.7 in January. The Manufacturing PMI Index decreased from 52.4 in the previous month to 51.2.
"A combination of weakened demand, high prices, and adverse weather colluded to dampened business activity in February, resulting in the slowest expansion of output for ten months," Chief Business Economist at S&P Global Market Intelligence Chris Williamson commented, adding that "confidence remains subdued on the whole, as companies worry about the political environment and impact of policies such as tariffs."
