US inflation remains at 2.4% in February

 The annual inflation rate in the United States stood at 2.4% in February, unchanged from January, according to a report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics published on Wednesday. Month-on-month, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.3%. Both figures were largely in line with expectations.

Core inflation, excluding food and energy, was measured at 0.2% on a monthly basis and 2.5% annually. The biggest contributor to inflation in February was shelter, whose index increased by 0.2% from January. Food prices were up 0.4% and energy prices by 0.6%.
