US President Donald Trump's nominee for the next chair of the US Federal Reserve, Kevin Warsh, secured enough votes from the Senate Banking Committee to advance his nomination, setting him up for a final confirmation vote in the Senate.
The vote was split along party lines, with all 11 Democrats voting against the nominee and all 13 Republicans supporting him. Senator Thom Tillis was the linchpin, agreeing to back Warsh's candidacy following the DOJ's decision to abandon its criminal investigation of current Fed Chair Jerome Powell, whose tenure expires on May 15.
