Renault Group will join forces with Thales Group to produce military drones to strengthen the French defense sector, the two companies announced in a press release on Tuesday.
The carmaker will manufacture Thales' Toutatis remotely operated loitering munitions in one of its plants in France. The companies stated that drone manufacturing is expected to begin in 2027, with a production capacity of 1,000 units per month. This collaboration "makes a tangible contribution to the initiatives undertaken with the French Ministry of the Armed Forces and strengthens both French and European defence capabilities," Renault CEO Francois Provost commented.
The two firms previously revealed that they teamed up to produce a military vehicle, called 4 TROOP.
