The Syrian Petroleum Company (SPC) said Tuesday that an explosion at the Jibsa Gas Plant earlier in the day was believed to have been caused by an act of sabotage, disrupting gas flows from the facility.
No workers were injured in the incident, the state-owned oil company said. It added that it was coordinating with the Syrian Electricity Company to offset the supply shortfall using available alternatives, while additional security measures have been implemented at oil and gas facilities across the country.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours, coinciding with Israeli attacks reported across Syria. However, there is no confirmation that the two incidents are connected.
