Artificial intelligence company Anthropic expects to have around 5 gigawatts of compute by the end of the year, the New York Times reported on Friday. Compute refers to the hardware resources needed to train and deploy AI models and tools.
According to people familiar with the matter, Anthropic also plans to add another 5 GW next year. The report claimed that Anthropic's rival OpenAI has set similar goals for 2026 and 2027.
