Iran summoned Germany’s ambassador to Tehran on Thursday over what it described as “baseless claims” by Chancellor Friedrich Merz and “interventionist” actions by the German Embassy, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said.
Ambassador Axel Wilhelm Dittmann was formally informed of Tehran’s protest, the ministry said.
The summons comes after Merz on Tuesday called on Iran to end its support for regional proxies, avoid extending the conflict into Iraq, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and halt its military nuclear program during a joint news conference in Berlin.
