Saudi air defense forces intercepted a drone launched by the Houthis before it entered restricted Mecca airspace, Major General Turki Al-Malki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, said.
The drone was intercepted south of the city, he said in a statement on X, noting that this was the second attempt to target Mecca, "following the first attempt with the launch of a ballistic missile on July 27, 2017."
The coalition "will not hesitate to take the necessary and deterrent measures" against the Houthis, he stressed in the statement.
