Lithuania deploys NATO jet over flock of birds

 A NATO fighter jet was scrambled over Lithuania after a reported drone sighting, but authorities later determined the suspected aerial threat was a large flock of birds, the country's National Crisis Management Center said on Sunday.

The incident prompted a temporary closure of Vilnius International Airport as authorities investigated the unidentified object. The fighter was deployed from Siauliai in northern Lithuania.

Officials lifted the alert and reopened the airport within hours after confirming there was no security threat.
