GE HealthCare said to eye $1B Sofie Biosciences deal

GE HealthCare Technologies is in talks to acquire radiopharmaceutical developer Sofie Biosciences for about $1 billion, the Financial Times reported Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter.

A deal could be announced as soon as next week, according to the report. The acquisition would mark GE HealthCare’s second major deal since it was spun off from General Electric in 2024.

Buying Sofie would strengthen GE HealthCare’s pharmaceutical diagnostics business, which provides imaging agents and chemicals used in medical scans. Sofie, based in Dulles, Virginia, is developing radioisotopes for positron emission tomography (PET) scans designed to detect cancers, including gastro-oesophageal and pancreatic tumors.
