Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi (pictured) on Friday ordered an investigation into the attack on a key Saudi oil pipeline that provides an alternative crude export route bypassing the Strait of Hormuz, after Riyadh said drones targeting the pipeline were launched from Iraqi territory.
"The state will not tolerate any activity that exposes Iraq or its relations with brotherly and friendly countries to danger," the prime minister underlined in the statement, reiterating that Iraqi territories and airspace will not be a "launching point" for "aggression" against any country.
The East-West pipeline came under attack the day before, with projectiles targeting pumping stations located next to the pipeline, with satellite footage showing "extensive" fire damage at one of the stations.
