Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Friday that the military and economic pressure exerted by the United States on Tehran have reached a "dangerous stage" and urged the BRICS member states to increase cooperation concerning trade and investments.
"Iran has faced extensive sanctions over the past years, but in recent months, these pressures have entered a very difficult and dangerous stage with the military aggression of the United States and the Israeli regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran," Pezeshkian said at the BRICS Economic Summit in India. "Economic security is inseparable from national and regional security. Whenever a country's trade, energy, infrastructure, or financial system is under political-military pressure, its effects will go beyond the borders of that country and will affect regional stability and even the global economy," he added.
The Iranian president also proposed establishing a BRICS joint reinsurance company with an initial capital of $10 billion for large infrastructure and energy projects.
