United Kingdom Chancellor of the Exchequer John Healey is reportedly "actively" considering joining the Canada-led global defense bank, sources told The Guardian on Tuesday.
The Defense, Security and Resilience Bank (DSRB) is a multilateral financial institution designed to provide long-term, low-cost financing for defense, security and resilience projects worldwide. Namely, the United Kingdom was reportedly asked to join the defense bank as a founding member, alongside eight other countries, including Ukraine and Turkey.
According to people familiar with the matter, the chancellor is expected to hold talks with the Canadian government this week. Former Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves had previously opposed joining the bank.
