Nvidia unveils AI tools to accelerate chipmaking

Nvidia Corporation launched new CUDA-X libraries to accelerate semiconductor design, manufacturing, and factory automation on Wednesday, allowing AI agents to accelerate simulation and inspection tools to help engineers "manage complexity" and "optimize processes."

"The semiconductor industry made the AI revolution possible. Now, AI is transforming how chips are built," Nvidia Industrial and Computational Engineering Vice President Tim Costa stated. Rising demand for advanced chips is pushing semiconductor manufacturers to scale production and use digital twins to simulate materials, analyze defects, and test process changes before implementing them on factory floors, Nvidia explained.

Major semiconductor firms, including Applied Materials, Cadence, KLA, Lam Research, Siemens and Synopsys, are integrating NVIDIA's AI and accelerated computing technologies into chip design, manufacturing and testing to shorten development cycles, improve yields and expand production output, the company said.
