United States House Speaker Mike Johnson announced that he will not run for the position of the minority leader of the US House of Representatives during a staff call, according to Punchbowl founder Jake Sherman. Johnson also reportedly revealed that he spoke with US President Donald Trump.
According to Sherman, Republican Representative from Ohio Jim Jordan is expected to announce that he is running for the House minority leader. He added that Republican Representative from Louisiana Steve Scalise also plans to run for the minority leader.
Meanwhile, Johnson previously claimed that the Republican Party will take back control of the House of Representatives and "finish the job" in the next cycle.
