SpaceX and Qualcomm announced on Wednesday that Starlink Mobile's nationwide terrestrial 5G network in the United States will use Qualcomm's Dragonwing cellular infrastructure platforms.
Deployment is scheduled to begin in 2027, with tens of thousands of sites planned under the multiyear agreement. The platforms will support Starlink's base stations, with technology designed to improve coverage, capacity, and energy efficiency. The financial details of the agreement were not made public at this time.
Starlink Senior Vice President Michael Nicolls said the company is building an integrated satellite and terrestrial network, and added that the collaboration would accelerate the development of its base station architecture. Qualcomm described the agreement as a step toward the companies' broader vision for future AI-native 6G infrastructure.
