The world's richest man Elon Musk issued a stark timeline for the advent of superintelligence, predicting that artificial intelligence will surpass the cognitive abilities of individuals, but also humanity as a whole in just 5 years.
"We might have an AI that is smarter than any individual human by the end of this year, and I would say no later than next year. Then, probably by 2030 or 2031—just four or five years from now—AI will likely be smarter than all of humanity collectively," Musk said in Davos on Wednesday.
