Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi urged United States President Donald Trump to stop the war against Iran, claiming that he is the only one who can do that.
"I tell President Trump: nobody can stop the war in our region in the Gulf but you," the Egyptian leader said at the Egypt Energy Show 2026 conference in Cairo. "Please, Mr. President, please. Please help us stop the war. You are capable of doing so," he added.
El-Sisi warned that the war will cause a double economic shock, resulting in supply shortages and rising prices. "Targeting energy facilities, whether production or refineries, will have very serious repercussions for the global economy and fuel prices," he stated, insisting that predictions that oil could exceed $200 per barrel are not exaggerated.
