EU extends sanctions against Iran for one year

 The European Council announced on Monday that it has extended restrictive measures against Iran over human rights violations until April 13, 2027.

"The EU strongly supports the fundamental aspirations of the people of Iran for a future where their universal human rights and fundamental freedoms are fully respected, protected and fulfilled," the council said in a statement.

The sanctions include travel bans and asset freezes, as well as arms bans. The EU has so far sanctioned 53 entities and 263 individuals.
