United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed on Thursday that it is in the G7's interest to assist Washington in reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
"The Strait of Hormuz can be open tomorrow if Iran stops threatening global shipping, which is an outrage and a violation of international law," Rubio told reporters before his trip to a G7 foreign ministers meeting in Paris, adding that all the countries "that care about international law should be doing something about it."
Additionally, the secretary said that indirect talks with Iran are progressing. "There are intermediary countries that are passing messages and progress has been made, some concrete progress has been made," he noted, and stressed that negotiations are an "ongoing and fluid process."
