Around 40 tankers transited in and out of the Strait of Hormuz through its southern deep-water channel on Friday night, Axios correspondent Barak Ravid reported, citing three US officials.
The officials said around 16 million barrels of oil were moved out of the strait through the channel that night. The reported volume marks a sharp increase from recent weeks, when US officials told Axios that roughly 15-20 tankers were making the passage each night as part of a US-backed effort to maintain oil flows despite the war and disruption to shipping.
