Iran’s Supreme Audit Court investigated alleged failures in the storage and sale of Iranian oil cargoes at three Chinese ports that caused losses to public funds, Iran’s state media reported on Sunday.
The court said delays in decisions over the cargoes and their unjustified retention in rented tanks had reduced the oil’s quality and commercial value while increasing storage costs.
It said the case involved alleged negligence, abuse of authority and failure to fulfill legal duties dating back several years.
The file was referred to the audit court’s prosecutor for further investigation and possible prosecution, according to the report.
