'Pezeshkian says Afghanistan, Pakistan blocked attempted incursions into Iran'

 

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said attempts were made during the 40-day war to attack Iranian border posts in the northwest and southeast and send forces into the country, but neighboring states acted to prevent incursions.

“Both Afghanistan and Pakistan deployed groups to control the situation and made clear that no one would be allowed to enter Iran from their territory and create unrest inside the country,” Pezeshkian said, speaking to reporters Saturday.

He also said Iran had responded to attacks launched from US bases in neighboring countries, saying Tehran could not allow attacks from another country’s territory to go unanswered.
