Spanish fighter jet downs drone over Romania

 A Spanish F-18 fighter jet shot down a drone that breached Romania's national airspace on Sunday, the country's defense ministry said.

The drone was detected about 24 kilometers north of the country's eastern port city of Galati, where a Russian drone crashed into a building several months ago. Last month saw the country down three drones that violated its airspace.

Sunday's breach ended with the drone being intercepted after entering Romania from Moldova, with the debris likely to have fallen "in an unpopulated area" in Galati County, the statement said.
