United States President Donald Trump announced that an agreement was reached with Denmark, giving the US "permanent control over security, and all other needs" in the Arctic island of Greenland.
In a Truth Social post, the American president said the deal "completely" addresses all of Washington's security concerns. "There will be NO COST to the United States! At my direction, we worked with representatives of Denmark and Greenland to guarantee that the United States will FOREVER have the complete ability to do what is necessary in Greenland," Trump explained. Moreover, he proclaimed that "no US adversary can EVER have a base in Greenland" or a military presence on the island without American approval.
"We will immediately begin the process of developing a large Military presence in the appropriate part of Greenland, of which there are many," the US leader continued, adding that his country will work with Greenland "in its development and construction."
