'Iran official calls pro-government street rallies new form of wartime defense'

 

The presence of government supporters in streets and public squares has introduced a new form of civilian defense during wartime, Iran's passive defense chief Gholamreza Jalali said Wednesday.

In an interview with state television, Jalali described government-organized gatherings in Iranian cities as a new method where “civilians defend the government and state.”
