Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis said on Tuesday they had repelled an advance by forces they described as Saudi-backed near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
The Houthis said they targeted the advancing forces with ballistic missiles and heavy weapons, causing heavy casualties and destroying several military vehicles.
There was no immediate confirmation from Saudi Arabia.
The Bab el-Mandeb Strait links the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden and is a key route for international shipping.
