'Iran reports rise in cyberattacks over past two to three days'

 

Cyberattacks on Iranian websites and portals have increased over the past two to three days, a deputy communications minister said on Sunday, adding that authorities had repelled many of them.

Mohammadmohsen Sadr, who heads the country’s Information Technology Organization, urged government agencies to take security warnings seriously.

He also said Iran’s National Information Network could not meet all the country’s needs on its own and required access to the internet.

“Many of the country’s daily and research activities need internet access,” he said, adding that the domestic network and the internet must operate alongside each other.
