Moody's keeps France's credit rating at Aa3

Credit rating agency Moody's maintained France's credit rating at Aa3 despite the steady rise in its debt and the recent unrest in the country. The agency noted that the decision was made due to the country's diversified economy and the strength of its public institutions.

"A significant and sustained fiscal effort will still be needed beyond the presidential elections of April and May 2027 to bring France's public finances onto stronger footing and stabilize a debt burden that will exceed 120% of GDP in 2027," Moody's noted.

French bond yields have soared amid the government's discussion about next year's budget and mass protests and riots across the country.
