The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission is investigating suspicious oil trading around the US war in Iran and examining prediction market trading around elections, Reuters reported on Thursday, citing the agency’s enforcement director.
Enforcement Director David Miller said the oil-trading probe had been open “from the beginning,” responding to a Bloomberg report that a political appointee had told staff to retract a referral flagging suspicious trading around President Donald Trump’s March decision to back away from strikes on Iran’s power plants.
