Saudi Arabia has agreed to extend its diesel supplies to France "for as many months as necessary," AFP reported on Wednesday, citing the Elysee Palace.
According to the report, French President Emmanuel Macron held a meeting with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh, during which the two leaders agreed to work on expanding the bilateral security collaboration and infrastructure projects to circumvent the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.
The French president also previously secured 200,000 tonnes of diesel per month from the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, as well as two terawatt-hours per month of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar.
