United States Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to present Russian President Vladimir Putin with an updated proposal to end the war in Ukraine during their meeting in St. Petersburg on Wednesday, Axios reported, citing a US official.
The proposal follows talks in Oslo with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European representatives, during which Kyiv reportedly introduced new ideas that were discussed in detail. According to the official, the parties made "meaningful progress" toward a unified framework agreement and reached "strong alignment at the working level" on the next steps.
The latest developments follow earlier indications that Washington could propose a trilateral meeting involving Trump, Putin and Zelensky.
