The United States State Department ordered all non-emergency government employees and their families to leave Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, spokesperson Tommy Pigott confirmed on Wednesday.
"Iranian-supported Houthis have increasingly engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including attacks on civilian airports and other critical infrastructure resulting in civilian casualties and severe travel disruptions," Pigott said in the statement shared on X.
The spokesperson, however, denied media reports suggesting that Washington had ordered all US embassy staff to leave other Gulf countries.
